I gifted this book to expecting parents and they absolutely loved it! As someone in early education, I really appreciate how this book is appropriate for infants, all the way to toddlers and preschoolers. I will definitely be gifting this again!
This book has been an absolute favorite for my almost one year old niece! Dr. Madhu Govind Kapoor has beautifully blended Rangoli and Kolam patterns used during South Asian festivities with high contrast illustrations for young children, supporting early visual development, neuroplasticity, and cognitive growth. I especially love how the book nurtures an early connection to South Asian culture and traditions, which is something I would have loved growing up as an Indian American. It also includes a baby-safe mirror and thoughtfully extends into fun enrichment activities incorporating math, literacy, and cultural learning for older age groups. These activities intentionally align with pediatric developmental milestone guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. An absolute must-read for children, especially those in South Asian households!
My 5 month daughter uses this book daily during tummy time and my 3 yo son points out red dots to her and counts how many there are. He just started tracing the designs with his fingers and I make sure it’s always in the diaper go before we leave the house! Can’t wait to gift this to my friends who’ll have babies soon!
Our son loved this book!
